I am running for Guilford County District Court Judge because I believe that now, more than ever, the people in our community need to believe that an impartial judicial system can be a beacon of hope against the helpless feeling of inequity. The injustices that we are seeing across the country don’t reflect the potential that humanity has for compassion when we view all human beings with dignity and value. Whether it is criminal or civil litigants, attorneys, bailiffs, clerks, or others, people deserve to have an approachable judge who will follow the law, treat everyone with respect, refuse to accept that there isn’t more to learn, and remain committed to the humility that must accompany the burdens of wielding so much power over the very real lives of community members yearning to be heard.
I believe that acknowledging the shortcomings of our judicial system and adhering to a rich tradition of jurist heroes like Thurgood Marshall, William Brennan, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and others committed to the cause of justice is the best way to protect our values and the hopes and dreams of future generations.
